First Sentry's response to Equifax cybersecurity incident.
Dear First Sentry Bank Customer,
As you may be aware, Equifax recently reported a cybersecurity incident that has the potential to affect over 143 million U.S. consumers. Our West Virginia Attorney General has stated that the event has the ability to affect over 730,000 West Virginians.
Anytime a First Sentry Bank customer has concerns about their security, we take it very seriously. Please note that Equifax is in no way connected to your First Sentry Bank account. Your account information at First Sentry Bank is secure.
Equifax has established a dedicated website, equifaxsecurity2017.com , to help consumers determine if their information has been potentially impacted and to sign up for the credit file monitoring and identity theft protection. The offering, called TrustID Premier, includes 3-Bureau credit monitoring of Equifax credit reports, the ability to lock and unlock Equifax credit reports, identity theft insurance, and Internet scanning for Social Security numbers – all complimentary to U.S. consumers for one year. The website also provided additional information on steps consumers can take to protect their personal information. Equifax recommends that consumers with additional questions visit equifaxsecurity2017.com or contact a dedicated call center at 866-447-7559, which the company set up to assist consumers. The call center is open every day (including weekends) from 7:00 a.m. – 1:00 a.m. Eastern time.
Of course, if you have further questions or concerns, please call First Sentry Bank at 304.522.6400. Thank you for your continued confidence in First Sentry Bank.
